Ingredients & Substitutions

Butter – use unsalted butter and add salt later if desired

Honey you can use any preferred honey for this recipe. Even truffle honey is a great substitute if you have it on hand.

Dijon Mustard – for this recipe I used grey Poupon because it has the best zesty kick.

Ham & Swiss Cheese – be sure to get your deli ham and cheese sliced thinly for these sliders.

Kings Hawaiian Rolls – You can’t make this spread without Kings Hawaiian rolls!

Other Ingredients – Poppy seeds, minced garlic

Let’s Bake!

Step 1:

Preheat the oven to 350° and prepare a baking dish with parchment paper, and cooking spray, and then set aside.

Step 2:

In a small bowl mix the butter, honey, mustard, and poppy seeds until combined and a sauce forms.

Step 3:

Next, while keeping the rolls connected, use a large knife to slice the Hawaiian rolls in half and place the bottoms in the prepared baking dish. Be sure not to separate or pull the rolls apart during this step.

Step 4:

With the bottom buns open-faced on the prepared dish, layer half of the ham, Swiss, and then the remaining ham. Place the tops of the rolls onto the dish.

Step 5:

Next, spoon the sauce over the tops of the sandwiches.  Allow rolls to rest for 10 minutes before baking, or refrigerate for up to 1-2 days before baking.

Step 6:

Cover the sandwiches with aluminum foil and bake for about 15 minutes. Remove the foil after the 15-minute mark and bake for 10 more minutes until golden. Slice and serve!

Tips For Success

When cutting the rolls be sure to leave them connected! It makes assembling the dish easier and saves you time pulling apart each roll.

Cook covered, then uncovered to ensure a perfectly cooked slider. If you don’t cover the dish while baking, the tops will burn very quickly, so make sure you have aluminum foil on hand for this dish.

Make sure you don’t over-bake these buns after you take the aluminum foil off. Baking time will vary by oven but be sure to keep an eye on them for the last 10 minutes.

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. To reheat the sliders, place the dish in the oven and bake at 350°F until warmed.
